Review – Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe

In a nutshell: All of your favorite characters from the DC Universe take on the most popular brawlers from the Mortal Kombat series, resulting in a better fighting game than many expected.

Why you should play it: Nice new Kombat systems.  Character models look great.  Ripping of costumes is a nice visual touch.  Easy enough for noobs and vets to jump right in and put up a good fight.   Good to see bruising in a fighting game such as this.  Surprisingly good story line.  Characters from both series blend well together.  Sound effects are very good.

Why you might want to avoid it: More of a perfect rental rather than a must own title.  While Klose Kombat and Free Fall Kombat are good new additions, both could have been done much better.  A lot of loading.  Some background are ugly when compared to others.  Violence is scaled back a bit this time around.

Final Thoughts: I was a little skeptical at first, but Mortal Kombat vs DC universe preserves the “feel” of Mortal Kombat enough to be another good entry into the series.  Using the DC characters to inject some new blood into a pretty stale series as of late was an excellent idea on Midway’s part.  Every type of gamer out there owes it to themselves to at least check out this title, as it can be extremely fun in short spurts of gameplay.
